2025 NBA Summer Internship  The 2025 NBA Summer Internship is a 10-week program that runs from June 9 – August 15, 2025. The program provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the business of basketball, develop critical career skills and contribute to meaningful projects across a range of departments within the NBA.
Program Overview

Internships are open to rising senior undergraduate students (i.e. those currently in their Junior year and entering their senior year in Fall 2025) and graduate students.

Candidates should be in excellent academic standing and have strong written, and verbal communication skills. Additionally, we look for candidates who possess leadership skills as demonstrated through relevant extracurricular or community activities.

Candidate Update
We received over 19,000 applications for our 2025 Summer Internship program.

Since the close of the application window, we’ve been busy at work reviewing your materials, considering your departments of interest and relevant experience. Currently, applicants are being matched to an intern role aligned to their application submission. Based on these criteria, selected candidates will move forward in the process and receive further updates during the month of January.

We look to provide updates to candidates on a rolling basis as we continue through the process.
Departments
Interns are aligned to a specific department for the duration of the program and work on real NBA projects and initiatives. Depending on the department, you may spend time working in both the New York and New Jersey offices. Interns work a full 40-hour work-week (Monday-Friday), along with optional evening & weekend events, on occasion. In addition to on-the-job experience, interns are invited to participate in a broad array of professional development programs, as well as community and social experiences. A list of league office departments and their descriptions can be found here.

Program Experience

Our Leaders, Our Business The 10-week internship experience features fireside chats with different executives from the business, including Commissioner Adam Silver and Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, among others.
Professional Development Our interns have an opportunity to sharpen their professional skills throughout our development curriculum. The internship program offers two tracks catered to both undergraduate and graduate interns.
Community, Culture & Connection Interns are invited to attend the NBA Draft, our annual NBA Cares Service Event, WNBA games, and other social events in order to build community throughout the summer.
Onboarding & Orientation
Our internship experience begins with a two-day orientation immersing our interns in key areas of the business and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to have a successful ten weeks within the league office. Interns have the opportunity to hear from leaders, to socialize amongst their cohort and learn about the history of the league.
