With nearly 20 years of experience in digital media across entertainment, telecommunications and sports, George Aivazoglou oversees the NBA’s business and basketball development efforts in Europe and the Middle East (EME), focusing on growing the league’s popularity and business in the region.

Since joining the NBA, Aivazoglou has significantly enhanced the league’s direct-to-consumer efforts in EME, leading to record subscriber and viewership numbers across the league’s localized social and digital media channels in the region.  Aivazoglou has also been instrumental in expanding the league’s footprint in the Middle East, notably through the NBA’s collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi that features preseason NBA Global Games, the Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League, a variety of interactive fan events featuring appearances by current and former NBA players, a series of NBA FIT clinics promoting health and wellness, and an NBA 2K League exhibition event.

Prior to joining the NBA, Aivazoglou was the Chief Marketing Officer for Eurosport, overseeing global brand, subscriber acquisition, retention and insight efforts across linear and digital platforms.  He also served as Chief Marketing Officer at fintech startup Ezbob, held leadership roles at Sky and T-Mobile International, and is a trustee of Sense – a UK based charity supporting individuals born deaf-blind.

Aivazoglou, a native of Thessaloniki, Greece, holds a master’s degree in marketing from Athens University of Economics and Business and a bachelor’s degree in international business and economics from the University of Macedonia.
