Dave Weiss serves as Executive Vice President, Operations & Administration for the NBA.  In this role, Weiss oversees the global facilities and real estate, people and culture, benefits, medical operations, and other internal operations and administrative affairs of the league and its related entities. 

Weiss also leads a team with responsibility for all player health matters for the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League and Basketball Africa League.  In this capacity, Weiss oversees league health policies and operations, technology initiatives, and a public-private research portfolio.  This work included, beginning in January 2020, managing the NBA’s response to COVID-19, including the strategy, research, technology, government relations, and protocols and health operations for the NBA’s 2019-20 season restart in Orlando and subsequent seasons.  He also plays an active role in the league’s anti-drug program, mental health programs and other topics related to the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Players Association.  Weiss also serves on the NBA’s AI Steering Committee.

Prior to joining the NBA, Weiss was associated with the law firm of Skadden, Arps and previously served as a law clerk to Judge Michael Daly Hawkins of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and as a fellow with the South African Human Rights Commission.

Weiss, who was named to the SportsBusiness Journal’s Forty Under 40 list in 2016, is a graduate with honors from Dartmouth College and The University of Michigan Law School.
